The Rotary Super Summit Foundation Seminar, held on Sept. 10, 2011, at the Loews Annapolis Hotel, beckoned over 150 Rotarians from Districts 7610 (northern Virginia), 7620 (Washington, D.C., and eastern Maryland) and 7630 (Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware). The event goal was to showcase the extraordinary work of The Rotary Foundation which consists of Polio Eradication; Peace, Ambassadorial and Global Grant Scholars; and local community projects and humanitarian projects worldwide that focus on Water and Sanitation, Education and Literacy, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Mother and Child Health, Peace and Conflict Resolution/Prevention, and Economic and Community Development. Regional Rotary Foundation Chairman Joe Mulkerrin from Virginia Beach, Va., and Rotary Foundation Future Vision Senior Coordinator Ashley Lapin gave brief presentations on our progress.
When asked about the purpose of the Summit, Rachael Blair, Summit Chair and proud member of the Annapolis Rotary Club replied, "This a time to celebrate the achievements of Rotarians in our district who give so much of their time and share their talents, both locally and globally. It is our goal to enhance our commitment to global understanding and world peace with creativity and sensitivity."
