COAT DRIVE

Coat Drive

With the mild temps outside these days it's hard to imagine that winter will soon be here. But, it will, and with it cold, freezing weather. Many people standing outside waiting for buses to school and work will be shivering for lack of warm winter clothing. That's where you can help. The Anne Arundel County Police Department partnered a couple of years ago with the faith community to collect coats for needy children. Each year the collection has grown a bit as we've added new sponsors. This year our Rotary Club becomes the newest contributor to a very worthy cause - putting warm coats, hats and gloves on poor children going to school and adults trying to get to work. If you're willing to buy a new coat for a child or teen, that would be great! Gently used, CLEAN, coats are also acceptable, especially for adults. We hope to collect 400 coats this winter to distribute to some of the neediest communities in our city and county. Coats can be dropped off at Asbury UMC on West Street, or brought to our meeting. Carletta will take them for you. Thanks for your help!
