Peter Kyle, District Governor and RI Alternate Representative to the World Bank, was a panelist on the “Water” breakout session on Nov. 2 at the Rotary United Nations Day in New York City. The theme was “Rotary and the United Nations Together Engaged to Change Lives.”
Jan Eliasson, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, was among the official greeters.
Approximately 1,000 delegates attended the daylong event which focused on economic, community, basic education and literacy development; maternal and child health; disease prevention and treatment; and peace and conflict resolution. Emphasis was on how Rotary International and the U.N. work cooperatively on objectives and share similar missions in the world.
The Annapolis Rotary Club delegation included Lydia Hohman, International Lane Director, and her husband, Mark Jones; Phil Reynolds; Chris Spain; and Mary Felter. Anthony Clarke, past president, South Anne Arundel Rotary Club, also participated.
