Sponsor a bushel (or more) of crabs!

Annapolis, MD (June 23, 2015) --Would you sponsor a bushel of crabs at the Rotary Club of Annapolis 70th annual crab feast?

“We can use some help, since the biggest expenditure at the crab feast is the crabs themselves,” says Jim Campbell, chairman. “Each bushel this year may now top out at about $200, and we routinely order upwards to 340 bushels.

“The goal of the summer-time tradition is to raise funds for local non-profit organizations, with all proceeds going to these worthy causes,” says Campbell. “Last year the Rotary Club of Annapolis was able to raise $62,000 to give to 29 local non-profit groups. That amount could have been larger if we were able to offset more of our costs. Since we started this event in 1946, we have given more than $1,000,000 back to the community.”

Each batch of crabs are steamed right at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, where guests pick up a tray of crustaceans and then settle down with mallets and beer for their feasts. Additionally guests can enjoy pulled pork sandwiches, Maryland corn, Maryland crab soup, hot dogs, sodas and water. Watermelon queens from six states will serve freshly-cut cool watermelon slices at the event.

Anyone sponsoring a bushel of crabs will receive one ticket to the crab feast. Sponsoring two to four bushels equals two tickets, posting on the club’s Web site, and one raffle ticket.  Five to 10 bushels equals three crab feast tickets, two raffle tickets, posting on the club’s web site, and the name displayed at the crab feast venue. Additional purchases of bushels will be afforded additional benefits.  Raffle ticket prizes are $250, $500, and $1,000 as well as a crab feast for 10 by Shoreline Seafood.

In addition, the club also is seeking corporate sponsorships which provide various benefits including tables in the preferred dining area, name recognition, website postings, and raffle tickets. Current sponsors include Adam’s Ribs, Katcef Brothers Inc., Shoreline Seafood Inc., as well as Great Frogs, Knob Hall, Lingamore, and Port of Leonardtown wineries.
