Annapolis Rotary Club and Foundation named Living Landmarks

Annapolis, MD (May 19, 2016) – The Rotary Club of Annapolis and the Rotary Club of Annapolis Foundation, Inc., were named “2016 Living Landmarks” by the Annapolis Heritage Commission during a ceremony held May 19, 2016, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis. The event was part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for the National Historic Preservation Act. It was titled “Preservation 50: Putting People at the Forefront of Preservation in the 21st Century.”

            On stage are, from left, guest speaker David Brown, executive vice president and chief preservationist of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, holding a citation from the Maryland General Assembly; Rotarian Mimi Jones, foundation chairman, with a ceramic milk can award made by one of the event sponsors, Annapolis Pottery; Rotarian Robert Clark, executive director, Historic Annapolis Foundation, with another citation; Rotarian Randy Goff, club president, with the ceramic milk can award; and Ward One Alderman Joe Budge with a city proclamation.

            The club and its foundation were recognized for the outstanding contributions they have made to the community through the years. The club was founded on April 11, 1921.
